I had been talking to David Pontbriand about the possibility of producing his wife Brena and promoting her as a blues act. Somehow the convinced me to go to Shrewsbury(to Gary Cordeiros house) and jam with some other musicians. Tony Carmanatti on bass and Gary on keys. I jammed and it was interesting. eventually it started to sound ok. Brenda was a good singer and everybody had a lot of talent. We recorded 5 songs in the basement and this eventually got me the gig as host of American Blues Jam. We played about twice a month. I wasn’t gonna quit, but it was hard to take seriously. We played some good sized gigs and people liked us a lot. My problem was members not showing for gigs and me having to guide all their replacements through an entire night. This was becoming a regular event. So when Brenda decided she wanted to start singing country music, I was fine with it. I took Gary and Tony and now we have The Mess.

brenda has posted a couple of Soulshaker live performances on You Tube under her new stage name Lady Pont for anyone who is interested in seeing the band
